The Permanent Installation

The ultimate television experience comes with a price.
About the book
Tampa, 1988. Fifty-three-year-old car salesman Gene Figurino has spent years escaping into movies while his wife, Lillian, and their teenage children, Anthony and Nicole, struggle to reach him. Then a midnight visit from a salesman named Norman Dancer offers Gene the entertainment system of his dreams. The contract bears the name H. Dot Inferno. Gene signs before he understands what a permanent installation really means.
The television pulls him into Camp Evergreen, where the terror is real and the other people trapped on screen are previous customers condemned to repeat their roles. Five horror films stand between Gene and escape: Camp Evergreen, The Cursed Book and the Devil’s Dummy, Little Mouths Down There, The House That Laughed, and The Dreams of Sharon Mars. Watching the ending is no longer enough. He has to survive it.
When Lillian, Anthony, and Nicole are drawn into the nightmare, Gene’s private obsession becomes a fight for his entire family. With help from fellow prisoner Alan Crone, he searches for a way through the films and the contract’s fine print. But their host controls the program—and he has no intention of letting his audience leave.
